"All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Mt. 28:18-20

Our Mission can be summed up in 2 words: "make disciples". What is a disciple? In short, he is a fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ. But how do we go about making men and women into fully devoted followers of Christ? We do so through Evangelism, Discipleship, and Community.

Evangelism: Before a person can be discipled they must be won to Christ. There are two kinds of evangelism modeled in Scripture: Preaching Evangelism and Friendship Evangelism. The apostles and gifted evangelists engaged in Preaching Evangelism, where they would expose a crowd of non-Christians to the Good News of salvation in Christ. The other members of the church engaged in Lifestyle Evangelism where they would use every opportunity to help non-Christians they encountered in their daily lives come to Christ (Col.4:5-6). It is interesting to notice the differences between the Pharisees' and Christ's attitude toward sinners. The Pharisees stayed as far away from sinners as they possibly could, and grumbled and complained when they saw Jesus eating and drinking with them (Luke 5:30; 7:39; 15:1-2) . Jesus, on the other hand, spent time with sinners, knowing that it is the sick that are in need of a physician (Luke 5:29-32; 7:34). If we are to reflect the attitude of Christ, we will seek out non-Christians, loving and serving them for Christ's sake, with the hope that they will be drawn to the Savior.

Discipleship: When a person embraces Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, they need to be discipled. That is, they need to be taught to "observe all the things that Jesus commanded." A more mature Christian needs to begin working with the younger Christian to show them how to obey Jesus in all areas of their life. The most powerful way he can teach the new believer is to model what it means to obey Jesus. The older believer will need to be willing to spend time with his disciple regularly and consistently in order to help him/her grow to maturity. A new disciple needs to learn to obey Jesus in the areas of sacrificially loving others, continuing in the Word, prayer, giving to the poor and the work of the gospel, and making disciples, among others.

Community: When a person embraces Christ, we also need to help them become a committed member of a local church. We believe that church life is best lived out in small gatherings of believers in homes, where they can practice the "one anothers", learn to sacrificially love and serve others, use their spiritual gifts to build others up in the gatherings, and develop deep and meaningful relationships. If we are being effective in winning people to Christ, discipling them, and incorporating them into simple churches, there will come a time when a home will no longer be big enough for its gatherings. At that time, the church needs to reproduce itself into a new church. Those people we have discipled will become the leaders of the new churches that are planted. If God blesses our efforts, we will see a church planting movement begin!

Great Commission House Churches exists to make disciples by winning people to Christ (Evangelism), helping them grow to spiritual maturity (Discipleship), and incorporating them into simple churches (Community) where they can learn to sacrificially love and serve others.
